Father and two Sons lead Kramer Beverage

Like Father, Like Sons Kramer Beverage includes the second generation in management.

With the end of Prohibition and the partnership of the Ballantine Beer and Piels Beer. In 1952, Kramer Beverage outgrew its facilities and moved into a new building on North Virginia Ave in Atlantic City. Kramer Beverage successfully became known as the largest beer distributor south of Trenton, NJ, and the largest bottling plant in South Jersey.

This new warehouse and building occupy 30,000 square feet of space, which was ten times bigger than the previous location and had a new palletizing system for managing all merchandise. The Company now had seventy-five employees, thirty-two trucks and covered Beach Haven, NJ to Cape May and 40 miles inland to Hammonton, NJ.

Ben Kramer now included his two sons in the organization, Arnold joined Kramer Beverage in 1935.  Arnold Kramer, born in 1914, was 10 years old when his father, Ben, bought the Old Whistle Bottling Plant. Arnold attended early education in the local public schools and graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1933. He then attended a Business Administration and Accounting program at Peirce College in Philadelphia.

Upon Arnold’s graduation, in 1935, he entered the Kramer Family Business and moved through various departments, before taking his role of Vice President and Controller. Arnold married Gertrude Goldstein in 1939 and had two sons, Charles, and Stephen.

Daniel, Ben Kramer’s younger son, was Secretary and General Manager and joined in 1948 after serving in WWII in the Air Force. Daniel was only a baby when his parents moved to Atlantic City. He also attended public schools and graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1940. Daniel then went to Bucknell College, where he studied Business Administration. He was there for two years when World War II began, and he enlisted into the Air Force. Daniel Served with the 20th Air Force in Guam and the Mariana Islands before he was discharge in 1946. He then finished his degree at Bucknell, graduated in 1948 and joined Kramer Beverage. Daniel married Vivian Bershaw in 1948 and had one son Harvey.

Kramer Beverage, after thirty plus years in the Beverage business continues to grow and the Family Legacy endures….
