The Kramer Cares charity of the month for December is Holton’s Heroes, a non-profit dedicated to helping pediatric brain injury survivors get the tools they need to succeed in recovery.
Founded in 2015, Holton’s Heroes has made a real impact for both children who’ve suffered life-threatening brain injuries, and their loved ones. Holton’s Heroes helps children and their families by providing therapeutic tools and devices, enriching activities, educational information, and resources to help aid in the recovery process.
Eric Weingrad, the founder of the organization, wants injured children and their families to have the support and resources that weren’t given to him and his family when their son, Holton, suffered a substantial brain injury at just 11 weeks old. Eric and his wife, Angela, struggled to fight their way through the U.S. insurance system and were repetitively denied the help their son desperately needed. By creating Holton’s Heroes, Eric and Angela hope to help families all over have access to those exact resources their family was denied. This organization strives to be a constant reminder to families dealing with a brain injury that they are not alone and that they can overcome the obstacles associated with these tragic injuries.
